High Places - “From Stardust to Sentience”
For whatever reason, my first encounter with High Places (around the time 03/07 - 09/07 was released) didn’t leave much of an impression, at least not a good one. However, after bumping into their song “From Stardust to Sentience” a number of times recently, I’ve had no choice but to give them a second chance. And I’m glad I did.
High Places are a Brooklyn duo who like to experiment with their music, and the result of these experiments is a heady, layered, and dreamy kind of indie pop music, with plenty to reward repeat listeners. I may have prematurely written off High Places, but I’ve now seen the error of my ways.
High Places’ eponymous debut album was released earlier this year on Thrill Jockey.
